A small workshop, and a feeder that does more than hold seed
We make bird feeders by hand in England. That is the whole business, and we like it that way.
Ours is a small workshop, and the thing we make is the bird feeder. We don't think of a feeder as a box that happens to hold seed. Made properly at the bench from seasoned wood, it becomes a quiet part of the garden: something that brings birds a little closer and stays put through one season after another.
Every step is done by hand. We cut the pieces, shape them, put the joints together and finish the wood, checking the details as we go. It takes time. We don't try to hurry it, because that slower pace is the real difference between a feeder from a workbench and one from a production line.
The other thing we think about constantly is the weather. A feeder lives outdoors, so the timber we choose, the way it's joined and the finish we put on it are all decided with lasting in mind. We want each piece to sit comfortably in your garden, suit the birds you get, and be honest in how it's made.
The slower pace is the point. It is what separates a workbench feeder from a factory one.
Everything is made at our workshop in England, and from there it goes out by post, both around the UK and abroad. We pack each order by hand before it leaves.
